“Great things never came from comfort zones.”
I didn’t just put that on my Claflin graduation cap back in 2017 because it sounded good — I put it there because it was my truth.
Claflin forced me out of my comfort zone in every way.
I came in quiet and trying to figure it out. But college stretched me — mentally, emotionally, spiritually. It challenged how I saw myself and what I believed I was capable of. It taught me how to lead, how to speak up, how to keep showing up even when it was hard. And it was that very stretching that shaped me into the woman I was becoming. That’s why I chose those words because I knew my growth required discomfort.
Getting out of my comfort zone didn’t just stop after college!!
Real life after graduation hit differently. There were moments I questioned my path, had to pivot, start over, let go, and trust God in ways I never had before.
But every time I leaned into growth and stepped beyond what felt safe — I was met with purpose. And every time I honored that uncomfortable stretch, I got one step closer to alignment.
I’m still walking that journey. Still choosing growth. Still saying yes to the woman I’m called to be.
So if you’re in a season where life is stretching you… lean in.
Discomfort is not your enemy. It’s your invitation to level up.
You don’t grow in the easy places. You grow when you move differently.
Comfort zones don’t build greatness BUT courage does.
